Who belongs to the Senior Center Council?
The Senior Center maintains at least 90 activity groups for its
membership. One member from each group is a voting member of the Council and may run for
Council office. The president of the Council is also a voting member on the Board of
Directors. Any member of the Senior Center is encouraged to attend Council meetings and
participate in discussions.
How are the meetings structured?
The Council meets on the first Monday of each month at 1:00 p.m. The
Executive Director and staff members give monthly updates to the Council on the results of
recent events and plans for future activities. Thus the Council receives a comprehensive
status of the Senior Center to pass on to their activity groups and in turn to the Senior
Center membership in general.
There are also periodic reports from the activity group
representatives, Board of Director members, special guests, and others.
Another purpose of the meetings is to discuss topics concerning Senior
Center objectives and to exchange ideas to meet this objective. Any member of the Senior
Center may bring up a subject for an agenda item.
Continuous improvement program
The Council functions as a communications conduit to insure that the
plans and objectives of the Board of Directors are passed on to the membership. In addition
the council works with the membership to provide solutions and support for the Senior
Center's objectives.
