Journey to Belvedere

From the doorstep of 1180 Pepsi Place to our property on Belvedere Boulevard is about two miles. If we laid our campaign out on the map, you would see that we’ve reached the ¼-mile mark in our journey from the Senior Center to the Center at Belvedere!

With the support of generous philanthropists, the campaign for the Center at Belvedere has reached the one-quarter mark in funding (including gifts, pledges, and the value of the Pepsi Place facility). While we still have a long way to go, we are encouraged by the new energy and increased momentum both for our Center and for the important message that aging is a critical issue in our community.

Research proves that programming such as ours—centered on holistic wellness—promotes longer, healthier, happier lives. The Center needs not just more space, but space that is more functional, tailored to keep up with healthy aging best practices learned over the last 20 years.

The Charlottesville community is known for its generosity and foresightedness. Projects like the Paramount Theatre and Martha Jefferson Hospital took millions of dollars and 10 or more years to complete – and they got done. So will the Center at Belvedere, with your help and the continued support of our community.

HOW WILL WE GET THERE? One step at a time. By sharing the message. By building partnerships. By engaging philanthropists at every level who recognize the transformational power of healthy aging. By taking care of the resources we already have. By continuing to be a resource for holistic wellness programming to keep our friends and family happy, healthy, and independent.

CAN YOU HELP? Definitely. There are many ways you can help support our Center today and our community’s vision for the future Center at Belvedere – from spreading the word about the importance of healthy aging to considering your own personal philanthropic commitments.

As Chinese philosopher Lao-tzu said, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” We are well on our way.
