Beth Barber appointed to The
Commonwealth
Council on Aging
Beth Barber, Program Director at the Senior Center, has been appointed
by the Senate
Committee on rules in conformance to the Commonwealth Council on Aging.
The Commonwealth Council on Aging is composed of citizens of all kinds.
They promote an efficient, coordinated approach by state government to
meeting the needs of older Virginians. There are 19 appointed members and
four ex-officio members. The Governor appoints 11 members, one from each
of Virginia’s congressional districts. Of the remaining eight-at-large
members, four are appointed by the Speaker of the House of Delegates and
four by the Senate committee on Privileges and Elections. This committee
meets quarterly and all the meetings are open to the public. If you want
