Do you like to sing? If you do, come and
join the Barbershop Belles! We are a group of women who enjoy singing in
4-part harmony. We're always looking for new members who might enjoy
singing with us. The belles are meeting
at the Senior Center each Friday afternoon from 2:00 until 4:00 in the
Craft Room.
After a two month’s hiatus, the Barbershop Belles are
reunited, refreshed, and ready to share their melodies throughout the
community. The first rehearsal will be on Friday, April 4th. Linda
Saunders, the founding director of the group has returned. Some of the
original members have remained with us these past ten years and we have
welcomed many others through the years. This doesn’t mean we don’t still
need new singers. We do.
Barbershop singing is in four parts: lead (sopranos), tenor
(high sopranos), baritone (a little high and low), and the foundation of
the chord, bass (the very low). We welcome new members who just have a
love of singing. We repeat again and again that professional vocalists are
not required. If you sing in a church, school chorus, or even in the
shower, come by and give us a listen.
We enjoy singing around the
Charlottesville community for church groups, nursing homes, assisted
living facilities and our own Senior Center activities. We also sing for
benefits and charitable functions.
If you would like more information on
our group, or you would like to have us sing for your group or
organization, please contact Dorothy Richards at (434)
