A message from the
group:
"Our Pinochle Group was formed at the Senior Center about eighteen
years ago. We started with just four players. We had first to make up our
own "House Rules" because we each played a little differently before
coming to Charlottesville. We agreed to meet on Thursday afternoons and
for eighteen years we have kept the same time and place.
The
number of players has gradually increased till we had twelve for a few
years. We started using 2 decks for four players and 3 decks for five
players. Some hadn't played with more than one deck before but we soon got
used to holding all those cards and wouldn't want to go back to using a
single deck.
Over the years our membership has dwindled until now
we only have 4 or 5 players each week. We would really love to have some
new people who would like to renew their interest in playing Pinochle, or
anyone who would like to learn how to play.
It is a fun game and is
very easy to learn and we would certainly welcome anyone who would like to
sit in and observe before joining in."
