Celebrate the 25th anniversary of National Senior Health & Fitness Day, the nation's largest older adult health and wellness event. On May 30, organizations across the country will host events for more than 100,000 seniors. Here is just a sample of what's planned for the day!
10:00 am: Senior Fitness presented by Phil Wendel, owner of ACAC. Driven by the knowledge that exercise is medicine, Phil strives to share this powerful message with community members of all ages and stages of life. Phil is a strong advocate for family health and fitness.
11:00 am Walk the "Humphries Trail" with Chuck St Clair. This is a pleasant stroll on a paved pathway that will be 35 to 45 minutes. We will car pool to the trail that is approximately one half mile from the Center.
12:00 noon: Plants not Pills presented by Melissa Healy. Contrary to the advice of many medical doctors, prescription drugs are not the only way to combat illness and disease. In this engaging talk, you will learn how a plant-based lifestyle can reduce your need for medication, heal chronic illness, and dramatically improve your overall health. A food demo and free samples of delicious plant-based food will be provided. Melissa is passionate about plant-based health, healing, and wellness. She holds a certificate in Plant-based Nutrition from the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies/eCornell and is a Certified Vegan Lifestyle Coach and Educator.
1:00 pm Join us at the Regal Theater in Stonefield for a surprise example of Seniors Aging Actively.
