Recorder Lessons

Every Thursday at 10:00am-11:00am

Next Meeting: Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 10:00am

Learn the recorder, make music, and have fun! Gary Porter, longtime musician and teacher in the American Recorder Society, shares her love of the recorder and the music you can make with it.

No experience is necessary, new members to the group are accepted at any time. Reading treble clef is a plus, but not required to begin. Students will use a soprano recorder with C fingering to begin, and lessons from the Suzuki Recorder School. The lesson book will be augmented with appropriate recorder solos and duets. As players gain experience, tenor and alto recorders may be used as well. Students will play a variety of music, learning proper breathing skills, beautiful expression, and good intonation. There is a one-time fee of $15, payable to the instructor on the day of your first class. This fee includes a soprano recorder and lesson book. (Fees can be waived if necessary; talk to Gary.)

Call the Welcome Desk at (434) 975-7756 or register here for class. The one time fee is payable to the instructor on the first day you attend class.
